Dr. Thomas Burlage

Dr. Tom Burlage is Board Certified in Chiropractic Sports Medicine. He holds a Diplomate from the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians—one of only a few currently in the Midwest. He has been in practice for over 20 years.

Prior to joining Madison Chiropractic, Dr. Tom owned the Burlage Chiropractic Wellness Center in Lodi, since 1999. Transitioning into Madison Chiropractic allows Dr. Burlage a greater opportunity to serve patients in the greater Madison area, as well as the surrounding communities of Sauk Prairie, Lodi, Waunakee, Middleton, Deforest, Cottage Grove and Sun Prairie.

Dr. Tom became interested in chiropractic after he was injured playing football in college. Chiropractic care helped him recover and return to the field.

In addition to receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, Platteville,
Dr. Tom served in the United States Marine Corps. After serving his country he went on to
receive his Doctorate of Chiropractic Degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport,
Iowa in 1996.

His interest in sports medicine prompted him to further his education to become a Certified
Chiropractic Sports Physician in 2004. In 2007, he obtained a Diplomate in Chiropractic Sports
Medicine and subsequent Board Certification.

Dr. Tom is an expert in the field of Chiropractic Sports Medicine as well as concussion diagnosis and treatment protocols. He is proficient in several chiropractic techniques as well as Kinesio taping, myofascial therapy including Graston technique, Activator methods, laser therapy, nutrition, and rehabilitation. He is also an authority on core stability and functional movement.

By incorporating the concepts he’s learned and developed in Chiropractic Sports Medicine, Dr.Tom is able to improve the lives of patients of all ages, including athletes from Pre-teen to Professional, as well as the general population. He believes there is an athlete in all of us, in one form or another, whether they are involved in athletics at any level, work in an office, construction site, farm, or the home.

Dr. Tom bases his treatment on 4 core principles:

  • 1. Chiropractic.
  • 2. Rehabilitation.
  • 3. Nutrition.
  • 4. Education.

He believes in not only helping patients heal and remain healthy, but also empowering them to
help themselves, so that they in turn may help others maintain their healthy lifestyles
independently.

Dr. Tom is active in the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association where he has held a position on the
Board of Directors for many years. He is a staunch advocate for chiropractic rights and insurance equality for all and works diligently to accomplish this goal.

Sharing his experience and knowledge is a passion of Dr. Tom’s as well. He dedicates much of
his time teaching and lecturing at a variety of conferences and events throughout the state, as
well as nationally.

When not seeing patients Dr. Tom loves spending time with his wife April, daughter Alyssa, and
their lab Duke.

A true Wisconsinite, Dr. Tom, loves the outdoors, fitness, the Badgers, Brewers, Bucks and of
course, the Green Bay Packers.

Dr. Tom is a member of the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association and the National Strength and
Conditioning Association (NSCA).
